Cooking up a treat
Koi Chinese kitchen, a takeaway and outdoor caterer, came to Carbon wanting a new look for their food business.
It’s always fun working with family run businesses and having the opportunity to rebrand the visual identity for Koi Chinese Kitchen was a real treat! Their brief was to help them to rebrand Koi as a more modern and contemporary brand, with the aim of tapping into more of the local, relatively affluent audience in their district.
Our creative approach
Our process started by researching the Asian food market, culture and traditions and imagery associated with China. So together we created a visual identity that was a fusion of both old and new, taking inspiration from street food and modern restaurant culture.
The simple logo and illustrations reference traditional Chinese woodblock printing with a contemporary twist, which suited the brand perfectly.
In order to bring the brand to life we also developed an illustrative style based on traditional Chinese drawings, which feature throughout the menu design, giving Koi a clean, traditional yet modern identity.
With the new identity in place, it brought a completely revised food offering, with new menus, interior and shop signage – giving an overall impression of a more modern and contemporary Chinese takeaway.
