Carbon Creative was formed in 2002 with the intention of becoming a carbon neutral company, we're getting there...

Carbon Creative is a graphic design agency with responsibility. Since we opened our doors for business in 2002 we have strived to put environmental sustainability at the heart of our company, operate ethically and with transparency whilst promoting these values to our staff, supply chain and clients.

Raising awareness to climate change and creating a low carbon company are very important aspects to our environmental positioning.

The earth is heating up and global warming is one of the most serious challenges facing the planet today. To protect the health and economic well-being of current and future generations, we all have a moral responsibility to help reduce emissions of heat-trapping gases such as carbon dioxide. Trees absorb carbon dioxide and by pledging to plant more, we can play a small part in helping fight global warming.

One of Carbon Creative's core environmental activities is tree planting. Our first tree planting scheme started nearly 3 years ago in Summer 2006.

We wanted to tackle a global problem but with a local solution so teamed up with Red Rose Forest, a local company. We focused our tree dedications and planting activities at Hurst Wood.

To trial the scheme we started planting trees for every new customer on their first order and also for all orders over £500 for existing customers.
It proved to be successful and within a year we had nearly 200 trees dedicated at
Hurst Wood.

"If I was going to die tomorrow I would plant a tree today "
Dr Martin Luther King

We continued to look at ways to develop the scheme and In Autumn 2007 we set about finding new homes for the trees within Salford.

We started to buy the trees direct ourselves from a local nursery. With the help of Salford City Council ranger teams we now distribute the trees over many different parks and schools within Salford.

This means that school children and other local community groups get involved with the actual planting of the trees. We were also able to get more trees planted so in April 2008 we further developed the scheme so that we now plant a tree for every order placed with no minimum spend required.

Where possible we try to attend the tree planting days especially at schools, its great fun joining in with the kids.

The most common types of trees we plant are...
Rowan
Hazel
Alder
Wild Cherry

In National tree week 26 November - 7 December 2008 we had 818 trees planted
throughout the schools and parks.

To date we have planted in excess of 1,500 trees in local parks and schools

A typical fully grown tree will sequester 40kg/co2 per year (100 grams / 4 ounces per day).
